Sicario: Day of Soldado, Taylor Sheridan's only sequel to date, has been added to Tubi's free streaming library in the United States, giving new audiences access to the 2018 follow-up without a subscription. Sheridan, who wrote both the original Sicario and its sequel, did not write or otherwise return for Wind River's forthcoming sequel, making Day of Soldado his sole example of revisiting one of his own scripts. The move to free streaming comes amid ongoing reports of a possible third instalment in the series.

Day of Soldado underperformed at the box office compared with the original film but, like its predecessor, has performed strongly on premium video-on-demand and streaming platforms since release. Sheridan has described the sequel as a more extreme version of the first film, saying the success of the original gave him the freedom to write something "ten times more unsentimental, more vicious and really reflective." Several key cast and crew members returned from the first instalment for the sequel.
