Ted Lasso's fourth season is already showing signs of Ted correcting a mistake he made with Nate Shelley in earlier seasons, this time with new assistant coach Alice Chilton (Tanya Reynolds). In the latest episode, "Riches of Embarrassment," Ted noticed Chilton becoming increasingly harsh towards the AFC Richmond women's players and, after a parable failed to change her behaviour, suspended her for a match rather than letting the situation fester as he did with Nate.

Chilton joined the show this season as an assistant coach on Richmond's new women's team, having initially resigned before Ted persuaded her to stay by acknowledging her playing career had been cut short by injuries. Her arc has increasingly mirrored Nate's — feeling overlooked, struggling to express difficult emotions, and clashing with players, notably striker Gemma (Abbie Hern), a former teammate who once quit the sport over Chilton's criticism. Rather than repeating past mistakes, Ted told Chilton directly that he had failed to notice warning signs in a previous coach "before he'd been burned to a crisp," and opted to suspend her for the team's final match before the holiday break.
