Tedde Moore, a Canadian actress best known for her role as Miss Shields in the 1983 holiday film "A Christmas Story," passed away on August 5th at the age of 79. Moore's character became iconic for her scenes with young Ralphie Parker, including delivering him a poor grade on his composition about wanting a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. She died in her home in Huntsville, Ontario, surrounded by family.

The daughter of acclaimed Canadian actor Mavor Moore and granddaughter of theatre pioneer Dora Mavor Moore, she trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and enjoyed a prolific television and theatre career spanning several decades. Moore faced multiple sclerosis from 2009 onwards and was survived by several children, including Noah, a Grammy-award-winning music producer known professionally as "40" who has worked extensively with hip-hop artist Drake.
