- The defence cites alcohol and plans to seek youthful offender status.

## Summary

Prosecutors say 19-year-old Tucker Braxton Woods shot and killed his longtime friend Gabriel Rogers at Rogers’s 21st birthday gathering in Grand Bay, Alabama. The case has been sent to a grand jury after a judge found probable cause; Woods has pleaded not guilty.

According to testimony, an argument began when Woods wanted to fire his new AR-15 on the property and Rogers intervened after Woods argued with Rogers’s girlfriend. Investigators said they found eight .223-calibre casings and later recovered the rifle from a drainage culvert; Woods was found in nearby woods. The defence says the men had been drinking and plans to seek youthful offender status, while prosecutors say intoxication is not a defence unless it amounts to insanity. Rogers was expecting a daughter with his girlfriend.
