Teenage sports fan snaps up NBA Hall of Famer’s training jacket for $3 at thrift store… now Sotheby’s expects to auction it for vast amount
A Portland teenager made an extraordinary find whilst browsing bins at a local thrift shop, acquiring what turned out to be a genuine warm-up jacket belonging to an NBA Hall of Famer bearing an embroidered team name. Quinn Brown, now 19, paid just three dollars for the item that had apparently been donated and overlooked by previous shoppers.
The jacket subsequently underwent authentication by Sotheby's, one of the world's premier auction houses, which determined its genuineness and decided to offer it for public sale. Specialists have assessed the item's market value at potentially reaching $250,000, meaning a casual thrift-store purchase could yield a life-altering financial return for the young sports enthusiast.
