Two teenage boys were seriously injured when a dirt buggy crashed on a private property in Oakdale, a semi-rural suburb southwest of Sydney, on Sunday morning. Emergency services attended the scene, with one boy suffering critical head and spinal injuries and the other sustaining serious head and shoulder injuries. The incident highlights the risks associated with off-road vehicle use, even in settings where such activity is legally permitted.

One boy was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition, while the other was taken by road ambulance to Liverpool Hospital, where he is stable. The cause of the crash remains unclear. Under New South Wales law, unregistered dirt buggies cannot be driven on public roads, beaches or parks, but they may legally be used on private property without registration or a licence and with no strict age limit, although SafeWork NSW recommends full-sized buggies only be operated by those aged 16 or over.
