Teenager Stan Moody beat four-time world champion John Higgins 4-2 in the last 16 of the British Open in Cheltenham, reaching the quarter-finals for the second year running. The result continues a breakthrough year for the 19-year-old, who earlier became the first British teenager since Judd Trump to play at the World Championship, and sees him eliminate one of the sport's most decorated players.

Moody, from Halifax, twice fought back after Higgins levelled the match before pulling clear with a break of 46 and sealing victory with a clearance of 69 in the sixth frame, despite Higgins having led 61-0 at one stage. He now faces fellow Englishman Liam Highfield in the last eight. Elsewhere, Judd Trump thrashed David Gilbert 4-0, Jack Lisowski beat Lyu Haotian 4-1 to set up a quarter-final with Mark Selby, and Jak Jones, Aaron Hill and Highfield also progressed.
