Telstra network goes down: Aussies unable to make phone calls or access mobile data
Telstra, Australia's largest telecommunications provider, suffered a major mobile network outage that left thousands of customers across the country unable to make phone calls or access mobile data on Wednesday morning. The company confirmed it was investigating "an issue affecting some mobile calls and data connections", advising customers that reconnection might work on a second attempt while it worked to resolve the fault.
The disruption spread beyond Telstra's own customers, with users of the Belong, Boost and Aldi Mobile networks — which rely on Telstra's infrastructure — also reporting widespread problems. Businesses were affected too, with some able to accept only cash transactions, and many frustrated customers voiced their complaints online.
