Firefighters in Fort Worth, Texas, rescued a person from the cab of a construction crane roughly 220 feet in the air after a medical emergency call on Saturday. The Fort Worth Fire Department said its technical rescue teams climbed the crane's ladder carrying all necessary equipment, then treated and safely lowered the patient using ropes and rigging, in an operation that highlights the specialist capabilities fire crews maintain for high-angle emergencies.

The alarm office received the call at 11:50am reporting a medical emergency at the JPS Health Hospital construction site, only to discover the patient was over 22 storeys up inside a crane cab rather than at ground level. Rescue teams provided immediate emergency medical care at height while devising a descent plan, completing the entire rescue, from arrival to getting the patient on the ground, in under an hour. The crane operator was subsequently taken to hospital in stable condition.
