## Key points

- A ranking argues delinquent anime deserves a comeback.
- The genre peaked in the 1990s and has seen a modest revival.
- The list weighs quality, influence and fan reception.

## Summary

The article ranks ten delinquent anime and argues that the genre, once prominent in the 1990s, deserves a wider audience. It describes these stories as following ordinary young punks who challenge authority or find their own kind of fun, rather than organised crime, and says recent shows have renewed interest.

Its criteria include writing, animation, entertainment, originality, influence, fan opinion and critical acclaim. The excerpt discusses Air Gear’s underground air-skating battles, Wind Breaker’s empathetic school punks, Gokusen’s teacher with a crime-family background, and Tokyo Revengers’ time-travel story; it notes the latter’s strong first-season reception and later loss of momentum.
