Clint Eastwood has revealed that he narrowly avoided a serious car accident while filming a driving scene for his 2002 thriller Blood Work, in which he starred alongside Jeff Daniels and also served as director. Eastwood, now 96, spotted a hazard developing that his co-star hadn't noticed and subtly adjusted the steering wheel to avert disaster, an incident he later played down as "no big deal" despite its potentially serious consequences.

Eastwood recounted the moment in a 2012 interview with the late film critic Roger Ebert, noting that driving scenes with cameras rigged to the car are inherently risky. He also recalled a separate incident decades earlier on the set of Dirty Harry, when he accidentally struck a pedestrian with a camera-mounted vehicle in a San Francisco crosswalk; the person was not seriously hurt and, in Eastwood's telling, reacted with little more than mild irritation rather than the legal action such an incident might prompt today.
