Michael Caine has named 2017's comedy heist film Going In Style as one of the most enjoyable pictures he ever made, despite it not ranking among his most critically acclaimed work. The film paired him with fellow screen veterans Morgan Freeman and Alan Arkin, offering the actor a rare chance to work alongside performers he greatly admired while breaking away from the butler and grandfather-type roles he had grown accustomed to in later life.

The film follows three pensioners who plot to rob a bank after their pensions are cut, and while reviews were middling, Caine told News 24 at the time of release, "It's one of the most enjoyable pictures I ever made." Freeman echoed the sentiment, noting that working with performers he venerated was a satisfying experience. Caine went on to retire from acting after 2023's The Great Escaper, meaning Going In Style remains a notable late highlight in a career spanning decades.
