Actress Inde Navarrette, recently cast as Rogue in Disney's upcoming X-Men film, has revealed that a career setback in 2021 ultimately paved the way for her current success. Navarrette lost her supporting cast role as Sarah Cushing on The CW's *Superman & Lois* after budget cuts reduced her to guest-star status, a moment she found devastating at the time but has since come to view as pivotal to her breakthrough in the horror hit *Obsession*.

Navarrette explained that the setback freed her up to take a minor role in the 2025 thriller *Trap House*, financed by Capstone Studios, whose founder Christian Mercuri went on to recommend her for the lead role of Nikki in *Obsession*. That film, directed by Curry Baker and made for just $750,000, has grossed $500 million worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing horror films ever and one of 2026's biggest box-office successes. Her profile from that role subsequently led to her casting as Rogue, alongside new X-Men cast members Sadie Sink, Samara Weaving, Christopher Abbott and Adam Driver, announced at Disney's D23 fan event ahead of the film's planned 2028 release.
