Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has revealed that Bob Dylan's 1965 album "Highway 61 Revisited" was one of the records that shaped his musical outlook, alongside more expected influences such as Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. Speaking to Guitar Player about ten records that changed his life, Perry explained that discovering the album in his future wife Billie's record collection reignited his admiration for Dylan and led him to study its guitar work closely. The revelation offers an unexpected link between Aerosmith's hard-rock swagger and Dylan's more literary songwriting tradition.

Perry singled out "Like a Rolling Stone" in particular, calling the song's lyrics easy to connect with even without fully understanding them, and describing it as one that has "stuck with me forever". He praised the album's guitar work as "fucking brilliant" and said it made him "become a Dylan fan all over again", prompting him to try to learn some of its guitar licks. The album, recorded with musicians including Mike Bloomfield, marked Dylan's fuller move into electric, blues-influenced rock and is widely regarded as a landmark in reshaping expectations of what a folk artist could sound like.
