## Key points

- AirPods 5 gets its first discount since launch.
- Noise cancellation and Live Translation are standard.
- Its open-ear fit differs from AirPods Pro 3.

## Summary

Apple’s AirPods 5 with noise cancellation has received its first discount since launching, less than two months ago. The price cut makes the new model more accessible and highlights Apple’s decision to include noise cancellation as standard, rather than charging extra for it.

Released on 19 September 2026, AirPods 5 also add Live Translation, an IP57-rated shell and an H2 chip with improved Transparency Mode. They use an open-ear design, while the pricier AirPods Pro 3 sit inside the ear canal with adjustable tips, offering more passive noise isolation; the choice depends on comfort, awareness of surroundings and price.
