## Key points

- Amy Taylor says Mötley Crüe “shits me to tears”.
- The other Amyl and the Sniffers members are fans.
- Their album *Cartoon Darkness* addresses technology and social media.

## Summary

Amy Taylor of Amyl and the Sniffers says she cannot stand Mötley Crüe, while the other members of her band like them. The disagreement stands out because the group otherwise shares broad musical tastes, and the article uses it to highlight how punk can combine raw energy with technical skill and layered themes.

The article also discusses the band’s album *Cartoon Darkness*, which explores technology and social media, and quotes Taylor describing how difficult it is to step away from phones without stepping away from society. It contrasts modern punk’s musical sophistication with the genre’s earlier, more rough-edged sound, and notes the Ramones’ 22-year run as an unusual example of a punk band’s longevity.
