The Batmobile Officially Has a New Passenger in ‘The Batman: Part II’ Set Pictures

Collider · 2 hours ago

Filming has begun on *The Batman: Part II* in Glasgow, with locals spotting a stunt double for Scarlett Johansson riding in the passenger seat of the Batmobile during a chase scene, hinting that her still-unnamed character will play a significant role in the sequel. The Batmobile's second seat has historically signalled the presence of a notable love interest or ally, as seen with Vicki Vale in 1989's *Batman* and Rachel Dawes in *Batman Begins*, fuelling speculation about who Johansson is playing.

The sequel follows on from 2022's *The Batman*, picking up with Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne after Gotham's climactic flooding, and sees Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell and Jayme Lawson reprise their roles alongside newcomers Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch; Zoë Kravitz's Catwoman is reportedly not returning. Rumours suggest Johansson may be playing Glinda Dent, wife of Harvey Dent. Matt Reeves returns as writer-director alongside co-writer Mattson Tomlin, with composer Michael Giacchino also back, while Erik Messerschmidt replaces Greig Fraser as cinematographer. The film is scheduled for release on 18 February 2028.
