Christine McVie regarded Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks’ 1973 album *Buckingham Nicks* as one of her favourites, praising its harmonies and the pair’s musical closeness. The record also helped bring Nicks into Fleetwood Mac, where she and McVie developed a close friendship and the band’s different musical backgrounds came together.

Despite substantial investment in recording, the album received little marketing support from Polydor and did not reach a wide audience. McVie recalled keeping a tape of it and described it as laid-back and beautiful; a 2025 re-release brought it to streaming and introduced it to a new generation. Its limited success helped lead Buckingham and Nicks to join Fleetwood Mac, changing the band’s course.
