Ti West's acclaimed X trilogy — X, Pearl and MaXXine — is now available to stream together on Hulu for the first time, giving fans an easy way to watch the full saga in order. The films, which star Mia Goth in dual and recurring roles, are widely regarded as a modern high point for "grindhouse" cinema, a once-disreputable film style rooted in cheap, cut-price theatres that has since evolved into a broader aesthetic of grimy, gleefully depraved genre filmmaking.

X (2022) follows a doomed adult-film shoot on a Texas farm in 1979, with Goth playing both the elderly farm owner Pearl and young actress Maxine. Pearl (2022) is a prequel set in 1918 charting the title character's descent into violence, while MaXXine (2024) follows Maxine's attempt to break into horror filmmaking in 1985 Los Angeles. Despite the trilogy's low-budget horror roots, it boasts a surprisingly starry supporting cast including Jenna Ortega, Kevin Bacon, Halsey, Kid Cudi and Giancarlo Esposito.
