Definitive Edition releases of the acclaimed 2017 games Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War are coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on 30 September, marking a significant re-release of what are widely considered among the finest Lord of the Rings video game adaptations. This development is particularly timely given the broader expansion of the Lord of the Rings franchise, including the forthcoming film The Hunt for Gollum and a new open-world game in development by Warhorse Studios.

The bundle for both games is currently available at a discounted price of $34.99 USD, but this offer is time-limited; the bundle will increase to its standard retail price of $69.99 when it launches in one week. The original games, developed by Monolith Productions, were released in 2017 and have remained popular among fans of the franchise for their gameplay mechanics and Middle-earth setting. Beyond this announcement, The Rings of Power will return to Prime Video in November for a three-week run before an extended hiatus, whilst Warner Bros. continues production on The Hunt for Gollum, scheduled for theatrical release on 17 December 2027.
