The Best Movie in a $7 Billion Franchise Is Quietly Crushing the Competition on Streaming
Fast Five, widely regarded as the strongest entry in the Fast & Furious franchise, has surged in popularity on Peacock as fans revisit the series ahead of its planned theatrical finale. The 2011 instalment, directed by Justin Lin, was credited with reviving audience interest after a dip in the franchise's fortunes, and its renewed streaming success reflects growing anticipation for what comes next in the long-running saga.
Fast Five earned nearly $650 million worldwide and was praised by critics for embracing the series' over-the-top action. It currently ranks among the ten most-streamed films on Peacock in the US, behind chart-topper Reminders of Him. The franchise's 11th and final cinema outing, Fast Forever, is due for release on 17 March 2028, directed by Louis Leterrier and starring Vin Diesel alongside Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson. NBCUniversal has also confirmed four Fast & Furious television projects are in development, with Mike Daniels writing the pilot for the first series.
