The film grossed nearly $1.5 billion worldwide in 2025, placing it among the year’s biggest hits, although this was below the franchise’s unusually high benchmark. The original Avatar has earned nearly $3 billion through its releases, while Avatar: The Way of Water took about $2.3 billion; Cameron has outlined at least five films but says future instalments may need lower costs and faster production.
