The Chicks have confirmed full details of their North American tour marking 20 years since Taking the Long Way, launching in Detroit on 30 September and closing in Los Angeles on 3 November, with a newly added third night at the Dolby Theatre. Each show will see the trio perform the acclaimed 2006 album in full alongside fan favourites, building on a companion 20th-anniversary reissue of the record due out on 2 October. The renewed campaign underscores the album's enduring significance as a statement of artistic defiance that reshaped the band's career and influenced a generation of country artists.

The reissue will carry five bonus tracks, including demos of "Not Ready to Make Nice" and "So Hard" plus the previously unreleased "Flowers", while "Thin Line" and "Live Wire" become available on streaming platforms for the first time. Taking the Long Way followed the band's 2003 on-stage criticism of President George W. Bush in London, which triggered a radio blacklist, CD burnings and security threats; rather than apologise, the group doubled down with "Not Ready to Make Nice," helping the album win five Grammy Awards and cementing its influence on artists such as Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris and Mickey Guyton.
