Prime Video is set to launch a new reality spin-off, "The Chosen in the Wilds with Bear Grylls," on Sunday 9 August, giving fans of the popular biblical drama an earlier return to the platform than expected. The spin-off arrives well ahead of "The Chosen" Season 6, which is due in cinemas on 16 November before it later streams on Prime Video, making this survival-themed offshoot a stop-gap for viewers eager to see the cast again.

The series follows cast members from "The Chosen" – including Jonathan Roumie (Jesus), Paras Patel (Matthew), Elizabeth Tabish (Mary Magdalene), Noah James (Andrew) and Luke Dimyan (Judas) – alongside creator Dallas Jenkins, as survivalist Bear Grylls leads them through demanding terrain such as Utah's Castle Valley, Canyonlands, the Ausable and Colorado Rivers, the Great Basin Desert and the Adirondack Forest.
