The Eagle Randy Meisner wanted to sing with one more time: “Such an energetic guy”

Randy Meisner said he regretted that he and Glenn Frey would never perform together again after Frey died in 2016. The former Eagles bassist had left the band in 1977, but his comments showed affection for Frey despite tensions during their time together.

Meisner had struggled with the pressure of singing “Take It to the Limit” on tour and cited exhaustion and poor health when he left. He returned for one reunion show in 1998, but never rejoined the group; after Frey’s death, he said he was especially sad they could not perform the song together once more. Meisner died in 2023.
