## Key points

- Schreier says the game is at least two years away.
- The project was announced in 2018.
- Reported layoffs added concerns about its timeline.

## Summary

Jason Schreier has reiterated that The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel is at least two years from release, tempering expectations that its recent re-reveal signals a launch soon. The extended wait matters for Bethesda, as the game is seen as a major release for the studio.

The game was announced in 2018 and was described as playable in July, when Schreier estimated it was at least two to three years away. Bethesda said in February that development had passed a major milestone, while more than 50 people reportedly working on the project were laid off later in the year, raising concerns about morale and the schedule. The article also notes that Skyrim’s 15th anniversary is approaching, highlighting the time since the series’ last main entry.
