A portrait in Valve’s in-development multiplayer game Deadlock has begun glowing red-eyed again, a visual cue the community associates with an imminent major update. A Valve developer-run Discord account reportedly confirmed that a substantial content update is planned for early the following week, although the studio has not disclosed what it will contain.

The game recently overhauled its ranked mode and launched its first ranked season, but has otherwise received mainly small balance changes. Dataminers have found new models for the game’s MOBA towers, suggesting visual improvements, while a rumoured player-versus-environment mode remains uncertain and is not expected soon; Deadlock may also eventually move beyond its invite-only testing phase.
