## Key points

- Four cubs explore their Montpellier zoo enclosure.
- Their mother, Bastet, watches as they play.
- Cheetahs are vulnerable, with 7,000 to 10,000 in the wild.

## Summary

Four captive-born cheetah cubs at Lunaret Zoo in Montpellier, France, were photographed exploring their enclosure alongside their mother, Bastet. Their playful behaviour offers a glimpse of the young animals as they get to know their surroundings.

The cubs were seen jumping on grass, climbing over loose branches and sitting together, while one perched inside a white bucket. Cheetahs are classified as vulnerable, with an estimated 7,000 to 10,000 left in the wild, so the four cubs are a welcome addition to the species.
