The Game has suggested that he removed or altered a Drake verse on "No Brakes", a track from his new album The Documentary III, in order to avoid stoking tension within West Coast hip-hop. Speaking on Real 92.3's The Cruz Show, the Compton rapper said he had made changes to the record to keep the focus on music rather than controversy, amid speculation about his stance in the ongoing feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.

The Game told host J. Cruz that at least three versions of "No Brakes" exist, with some earlier iterations described as less amicable, and that he had pulled certain material from the album altogether. When pressed on whether the edits were made "to protect certain individuals", he replied that it was more about protecting "the [West] Coast as a whole", insisting the finished album contains no disses. The comments follow criticism since the album's release last week, with some fans accusing him of siding with Drake against Kendrick Lamar, allegations he has also pushed back on in social media comments.
