## Summary

The article ranks five Beatles songs as examples of John Lennon and Paul McCartney’s strongest songwriting, focusing on lyrics that use vivid imagery, personal reflection and unusual storytelling. It argues that their partnership helped shape popular music and pushed beyond conventional pop songwriting.

The examples include “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”, inspired by a drawing by Lennon’s son Julian and imagery associated with *Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland*; “In My Life”, Lennon’s autobiographical meditation on memory and home; and “Eleanor Rigby”, widely regarded as primarily McCartney’s work, though its authorship was disputed and George Harrison also contributed.
