Callum Russell, a former mountain bike racer who was paralysed from the waist down in a 2018 crash, has rebuilt his career as an elite handcyclist and part-time model, showing how life can flourish after a life-changing injury. Russell severed his spine at T11 during a training jump at Gisburn Forest, initially struggling to reconnect with cycling before finding freedom through rowing, where he won a bronze medal on his Great Britain debut in 2022. He later returned to handcycling in 2023 after being inspired by a teammate, and in 2025 became the first British male handcyclist to win a World Championship medal, taking bronze in the time trial in Belgium.
