The Hunger Games Officially Returns With 5-Movie Theatrical Event
Lionsgate has announced that all five existing Hunger Games films will return to cinemas this September, ahead of the release of the new prequel The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping on 20 November. The re-release, revealed via the franchise's official social media accounts with a teaser reading "Five films you'll always remember, back in theatres this September," marks the first time audiences can watch the complete saga on the big screen before a new chapter arrives, serving as a refresher for fans and an introduction for newcomers.
The limited theatrical run will feature The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay – Part 1, Mockingjay – Part 2 and The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, though specific dates, participating cinemas and ticket details have not yet been confirmed. The forthcoming prequel adapts Suzanne Collins' novel and is set 24 years before the original, following a 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy during the 50th Hunger Games. It stars Joseph Zada alongside an ensemble including Ralph Fiennes, Elle Fanning, Jesse Plemons and Kieran Culkin, with Francis Lawrence returning to direct.
