Orlando Bloom has revealed he turned down the chance to work with Christopher Nolan in the mid-2000s, after meeting the director while Nolan was preparing his Batman trilogy. Bloom, then riding high off Lord of the Rings, Black Hawk Down and Troy, wanted to discuss an unmade Nolan script called The Keys to the Street rather than Batman, and later called Nolan to apologise for the mismatch, saying he needed to "find my life" after a frantic run of blockbuster roles. Nolan reportedly reassured him they would both be in the business for a long time, but the two have never worked together since.

Bloom made the comments in an interview last year, recalling his state of mind at the time as overwhelming, having gone from unknown to A-lister in a short space of time and fearing another huge trilogy commitment might overwhelm him. He also noted he has little fondness for Troy, in which his agent persuaded him to play the cowardly Paris despite it being a big financial success. Bloom, now more associated with smaller films, has upcoming roles in Bucking Fastard and Wizards!, and says he still hopes to work with Nolan one day.
