Actor Millie Bobby Brown disclosed that she auditioned unsuccessfully for Game of Thrones early in her career, missing out on the Lyanna Mormont character which ultimately went to Bella Ramsay. During a conversation with Jimmy Fallon, Brown reflected on how endemic rejection is throughout the entertainment industry, noting that actors face far more rejections than acceptances when building their careers, though she particularly wanted this role.

Despite the disappointment, Brown harboured no ill feeling toward the production and later developed friendships with several cast members including Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, going on holiday with them. She has since built substantial career momentum through her Stranger Things success and various other projects, including upcoming Netflix releases such as a romantic comedy and a spy thriller collaboration with David Harbour.
