The creators of The Inbetweeners have agreed a deal with Banijay UK that could bring the comedy back after more than a decade, potentially including a new film for Netflix. The development matters because it opens the way for the franchise to return across several formats, though no final project, cast or release date has been confirmed.

The original Channel 4 series ran from 2008 to 2010 and led to films in 2011 and 2014. Creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris said they were planning further adventures for the four central characters; the original cast—Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison and James Buckley—is expected to be involved, but this has not been formally announced.
