The Insane Irony of the White House Using Bad Bunny’s ‘La Mudanza’ for Deportation Videos

Rolling Stone · 3 hours ago

The White House’s official TikTok account used a clip from Bad Bunny’s “La Mudanza” in a video praising Donald Trump alongside footage of migrants being detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Rolling Stone describes the choice as particularly ironic because the song is associated with Puerto Rican resistance and because Bad Bunny has publicly criticised Trump’s immigration policies.

The video used text congratulating Trump, echoing lyrics in which Bad Bunny thanks his parents, before showing ICE detentions. “La Mudanza”, from Bad Bunny’s Debí Tirar Más Fotos album, references Puerto Rican pro-independence figures and symbols; the artist has also made pro-immigrant statements in his music and at the 2026 Grammys. Representatives for Bad Bunny did not respond to Rolling Stone’s request for comment.

  • White House TikTok used Bad Bunny music in an ICE deportation video.
  • The song’s political message conflicts with the video’s purpose.
  • Bad Bunny has repeatedly criticised Trump’s immigration policies.
