## Key points

- Democrats take control of both houses of Congress.
- Republicans turn on Trump as the 2028 jockeying begins.
- Democrats face pressure to turn their election win into effective governing.

## Summary

Democrats have won control of both houses of Congress in a sweeping defeat for Republicans, which David Corn describes as a political revolution achieved at the ballot box. The article says the result rejects Donald Trump’s politics of grievance and brings a diverse group of younger Democratic leaders into power, with a message of inclusion and moving the country forward.

Republican infighting began quickly, with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis calling the defeat an “extinction-level event” and blaming Trump’s policies, while JD Vance sought distance from Trump’s handling of the war in Iran. The discussion also argues that voters linked economic hardship to political corruption, and warns Democrats that winning power brings the responsibility to govern and use it.
