The Last of Us has resumed filming its third season, with a leaked set video suggesting it may expand on Tommy Miller’s previously unseen time in Seattle. The footage appears to show Tommy, played by Gabriel Luna, speaking with Jesse, played by Young Mazino, before they separate in WLF-controlled territory. This matters because it could address a major gap in both the television adaptation and The Last of Us Part II: what Tommy did while attempting to protect Ellie and Dina.

Season 2 followed Ellie and Dina’s journey to Seattle after Abby killed Joel, while Jesse later revealed that he and Tommy had travelled there to rescue them. The finale showed Abby killing Jesse and wounding Tommy, but did not depict much of Tommy’s own journey. Unlike in the game, where Tommy supports Ellie’s revenge mission after witnessing Joel’s death, the series initially has him remain in Jackson; a dedicated storyline could show how Joel’s death changes him and why he ultimately goes after Ellie.
