## Key points

- Ocarina of Time returns in a Switch 2 remake.
- The remake keeps its linear story and puzzle-filled dungeons.
- Its new visuals mostly work, though some areas are too dark.

## Summary

New coverage of Nintendo’s Switch 2 remake of Ocarina of Time argues that the traditional, more linear Zelda format still has a place alongside the open-ended games that followed Breath of the Wild. The remake preserves the original’s core experience while making it more accessible to modern audiences.

The story follows Link as he tries to save Hyrule from Ganondorf, using magical ocarina songs and other items to solve increasingly complex dungeon puzzles. The 1998 N64 game’s blocky graphics have been replaced by lifelike scenery and detailed, puppet-inspired characters; the review says this visual balance mostly works, although some areas are frustratingly dark.
