## Key points

- The iPhone Duo’s inner screen repair costs $999.
- AppleCare can substantially reduce repair fees.
- Foldable screen durability remains uncertain.

## Summary

Apple’s advice for people buying the $2,000 iPhone Duo is to consider AppleCare coverage rather than skimping on protection. The foldable’s large inner screen is especially costly to repair, so one accident could make the already expensive device much more costly.

Apple lists repairs at $379 for the 5.4-inch outer display and $999 for the 7.6-inch inner display; other damage costs up to $1,499. AppleCare+ costs $20 monthly or $200 annually, with two years costing $400 or $480 depending on the plan, and reduces service fees to between $19 and $99. Cases and the Duo’s materials may help protect it, but the bendable inner screen lacks Ceramic Shield, and its long-term durability is still uncertain.
