Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the third instalment in the animated Miles Morales trilogy, has been confirmed for release on 18 June 2027, arriving just ten months after the live-action Tom Holland film Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Sony has billed the animated sequel as the conclusion of the Spider-Verse saga, meaning Miles Morales, voiced again by Shameik Moore, will finally resolve the perilous cliff-hanger left by 2023's Across the Spider-Verse. The announcement underlines how central Spider-Man remains to Hollywood's box office fortunes, even as other superhero franchises struggle to sustain audience interest.

The news follows Brand New Day's record-breaking opening weekend, which took $360 million domestically in North America, surpassing Avengers: Endgame's $357 million to become the biggest opening in box office history. The animated trilogy, which began with 2018's Into the Spider-Verse, has been credited with proving audiences would embrace a Spider-Man story without Peter Parker at its centre, introducing characters such as Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man Noir and Spider-Man 2099 alongside Miles. Meanwhile, Tom Holland has said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that a longer-term plan for his version of the character has existed since No Way Home, though he acknowledged those plans could still change.
