Christopher Nolan's *The Odyssey* dominated the final weekend of July at the box office, but it wasn't the only Greek-themed release making waves. *Hadestown: The Musical*, a live stage recording of the hit Broadway show, debuted in US cinemas and posted a strong opening, becoming the second-biggest Broadway live-capture release ever, behind only Disney's *Hamilton*.

*The Odyssey*, starring Matt Damon, has now grossed $639 million worldwide against a $250 million budget, having outgrossed every other film in the US combined that weekend, and is on track to potentially reach $1 billion. *Hadestown: The Musical*, captured during live performances on 28 February and 1 March 2025, opened on 24 July in fewer theatres than most of the weekend's top ten films yet still finished fourth with a $9.6 million haul. Following its success, distributors Crosswalk and LD Entertainment have extended the film's initial five-day run and added further dates and showtimes.
