Following The Odyssey's record-breaking opening weekend, viewers have flocked to rewatch or discover Troy on streaming and VOD, despite the film's mixed critical reception at the time of its release. The trend illustrates how a major theatrical release can revive interest in thematically or narratively linked older films.

The Odyssey, based on Homer's epic, now holds the record for the biggest live-action box office opening of 2026 and the largest global opening of Nolan's career, putting it on course to become only his second film to reach $1 billion, after The Dark Knight Rises. Troy, starring Brad Pitt, Eric Bana and Orlando Bloom, grossed $497 million against a $175 million budget on its original release. It is currently streaming on AMC+, where it is charting in the top ten, and has become one of the ten most-watched titles on both Apple TV and Prime Video in over 25 countries.
