‘The Office’ Co-Creator Officially Returns to Netflix With New Special Next Month

Collider · 8 hours ago

Ricky Gervais, best known for co-creating the original British version of The Office, is returning to Netflix with a new animated comedy series called Alley Cats, premiering next month. The show marks a departure from the live-action stand-up specials and sitcoms he is best known for, though Gervais remains heavily involved as writer and voice actor, keeping it firmly in his comedic style.

Alley Cats follows a group of feral British cats from various walks of life, using their stories to offer a wry, often absurd commentary on everyday existence. The cast features Gervais voicing lead character Gus, alongside Tom Basden, Andrew Brooke, David Earl, Kelly Godliman, Jo Hartley, Diane Morgan, Natalie Cassidy and Tony Way, who voices multiple characters. It continues Gervais's long-running partnership with Netflix, which has previously produced his stand-up specials Humanity, SuperNature, Armageddon and Mortality, as well as the comedy series After Life.
