Derek and the Dominos, the short-lived band featuring Eric Clapton, made their only television appearance on The Johnny Cash Show, filmed at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium and broadcast in January 1971. The performance offers a rare glimpse of the group at their peak, shortly before they disbanded amid tensions during work on a follow-up album, making the footage a poignant record of a band that burned brightly but briefly.

The band performed four songs, "It's Too Late", "Got to Get Better in a Little While", "Matchbox" (joined by the song's writer, Carl Perkins) and "Blues Power", appearing relaxed and cohesive on stage. The appearance was recorded in 1970, close to the November release of their sole studio album, but the group split soon after the broadcast aired, cutting short what had seemed like a promising new chapter for Clapton following his string of 1960s bands and collaborations.
