## Summary

Jim Carrey and George Clooney have both named Sidney Lumet’s 1976 satire *Network* as their favourite film of all time. Their shared choice reflects the film’s lasting reputation and its portrayal of television and media as forces that shape what the public watches.

Carrey called the film “phenomenal” and said it seemed to predict developments over the past 50 years; Clooney praised screenwriter Paddy Chayefsky, saying much of what he wrote about in 1976 came true. The film lost the Best Picture Oscar to *Rocky*, but Chayefsky won Best Original Screenplay.
