Ron Howard has said he has not watched A Beautiful Mind since its 2001 cinema release, despite the film earning him Oscars for Best Director and Best Picture. The director explained that he rarely revisits his own work because he stays focused on future projects, though he retains strong memories of making the film.

Howard particularly praised Russell Crowe’s portrayal of mathematician John Nash, describing the actor’s creativity and courage in drawing on his own psyche as powerful enough to leave him “literally in awe”. The comments came as the film approached its 20th anniversary; Howard said he still values the experience, even if he avoids looking back at it.
