## Key points

- Kane James and Louie Hennessey are chasing more Wales appearances.
- Both earned their first caps in 2026.
- Competition for places is strong across the squad.

## Summary

Exeter flanker Kane James and Bath centre Louie Hennessey are aiming to build on their first Wales caps as they return from club duties to the national camp. Their progress matters as Wales look to strengthen the squad for the Nations Championship, with both young players developed in England and facing strong competition for places.

James, 21, has played four Premiership matches this season and made an impact off the bench against Toulouse; he combines rugby with an accounting and finance degree at Exeter University. He is competing for a back-row place alongside established internationals including Jac Morgan and Aaron Wainwright, while Hennessey is seeking opportunities in a midfield where Wales are still weighing up combinations. The pair are among 14 squad members employed in England and hope to feature against Japan, New Zealand, Australia and another southern hemisphere opponent.
