Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has officially unveiled the Range Rover Electric, its long-delayed first fully electric model, now open for order in the UK and US. The launch is significant because it tests whether wealthy buyers will embrace luxury EVs after lacklustre sales of rivals such as the electric Mercedes G-Wagen, Porsche and Audi's electric offerings; JLR is pitching the car as "Range Rover first, electric second" to distance it from that trend, while also touting off-road electric technology and extensive testing during the delay.

The SUV uses dual 260-kilowatt motors producing up to 542 horsepower, with a 118.5-kWh battery offering a claimed WLTP range of 372 miles (333 miles real-world) and 10-80% charging in 22 minutes. UK prices start at £154,070 for the entry-level Autobiography, rising to £225,240 for the SV Black long-wheelbase model, while US buyers can start from $138,000 for the SE spec; JLR says over 300 patents were filed and testing included the equivalent of 38 laps of the world and 250,000 hours of virtual trials, backed by an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty. The reveal follows July's announcement of the related all-electric Range Rover GT, still in final testing ahead of a later launch this year.
