Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has officially unveiled the Range Rover Electric, its long-delayed first fully electric model, which is now open for order in the UK and US. The launch is a significant test of whether wealthy buyers will embrace luxury EVs after lacklustre sales of rivals such as the electric Mercedes G-Wagen, Porsche and Audi's electric offerings; JLR is pitching the car as "Range Rover first, electric second" to distance it from that trend, while emphasising off-road electric capability and extensive testing undertaken during the delay. New detail confirms the car accelerates from 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds, has filed over 300 patents (a JLR record), and retains a touchscreen-led interior rather than following the industry shift back to physical switchgear.

The SUV uses dual 260-kilowatt motors producing up to 542 horsepower and 850 newton-metres of torque, with a 118.5-kWh battery offering a claimed WLTP range of 372 miles (333 miles real-world) and 10-80% charging in 22 minutes via an 800-volt system. UK prices start at £154,070 for the entry-level Autobiography, rising to £225,240 for the SV Black long-wheelbase model, with top "Ultra" trims priced on application; US buyers can start from $138,000 plus a $2,550 delivery fee. JLR says the car offers 900mm wading depth, traction control reacting within 50 milliseconds, and single-pedal driving on inclines up to 45 degrees, backed by an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty following testing equivalent to 38 laps of the globe. The reveal follows JLR's July announcement of the upcoming Range Rover GT, an all-electric grand tourer on a separate platform due to launch later this year.
